Much of the show building on the Frontierland coaster is finally free from scaffolding and scrim; however, work continues elsewhere at the attraction.
Refurbished Big Thunder Mountain Almost Ready for Reopening

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is on the verge of reopening to guests in just a few days, on May 3. While temporary barriers still surround much of the attraction, we can see that work on the ride’s load/unload building is essentially finished, judging by the exterior.

A few floodlights and other construction elements are just barely visible near the ride’s entrance.
Unlike the main show building, the ride’s queue area actually appears to be undergoing additional last-minute work.

Since our last visit to Magic Kingdom, we’ve noticed a significant addition to the vertical steel beams positioned around the eastern curve of the queue path and exit area.
From this in-park perspective, the nature of the work on the ride’s perimeter is unclear. Disney has not yet announced any anticipated changes to the ride’s reopening, nor have there been any details about a potential preview period, which seems unlikely the closer we get to the May 3 reopening date.
The ride itself has seen active testing for nearly a month, and the apparent lack of activity around the ride track – and now the show building – suggests the ongoing queue work makes up the final portion of the attraction updates.
