Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Guitar Scrim Removed Revealing Groovy Makeover

Although scaffolding is still in place, the scrim hiding the refurbished Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster guitar is now gone, revealing a psychedelic new color scheme.

Even on our visit yesterday, the guitar was still covered in scaffolding. But now that it's gone, we can see the vivid colors of the formerly cherry-red guitar. While painting is still underway, the guitar is quickly being covered in bright stripes with star motifs.

Above is a photo of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith before it closed, and the concept art for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. The Aerosmith poster will be replaced by a similar Muppets poster. The piano motif will gain a gold key, inspired by Dr. Teeth of The Electric Mayhem.

The scaffolding and wall remain around the guitar as crews continue with the painting work.

The top left side of the guitar appears to be the most complete so far, with jagged stripes and a star.

The right side is still very plain with just a few painted details and a few visible stars near the bottom.

The pick guard area, the ivory section where the tuners are, also appears refreshed. The “screw” elements are a bright silver against the background.

The back of the guitar also appears largely unfinished, as does the right side. Now that the scrim has been removed, we anticipate the painting work will continue quickly.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open on May 26, 2026. Though dates haven’t been announced, Disney confirmed Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster previews for Cast Members, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Annual Passholders.

Disney recently launched an official webpage for the revamped ride. They released the complete tracklist featuring rock covers by The Electric Mayhem and announced celebrity cameos for the queue. The queue will also feature various Muppet props and new The Electric Mayhem posters.

To make it to The Electric Mayhem’s concert on time, guests will board Muppet Labs’ Lengthy Immediate Motion Object – L.I.M.O.

Check out our last look at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which closed permanently at the beginning of March.
