The talking Dug meet and greet character has returned to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. After debuting at Disneyland Resort in spring 2024, the talking Dug began roaming Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom that May.

He sometimes appeared at the Wilderness Explorers meet and greet space until it closed last year to make way for the Zootopia meet and greet. Dug and Russell then met guests on the Discovery Island Trails but the talking version of Dug hasn’t been seen for several months.

Starting today, talking Dug is meeting once again. Though the meet and greet began on Earth Day, cast members said it is not an Earth Day-exclusive meet and greet. That said, we don’t know for how long this meet and greet will continue. And if there are issues with the talking Dug technology, guests may get non-talking Dug instead.

The Dug meet and greet is listed in the My Disney Experience app, with periodic appearances between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Check the app for up-to-date appearance times on the day of your visit.
