Walt Disney Animation shared retro-style posters for modern classics Tangled and Encanto. The artwork by Timba Smits is inspired by posters for old Disney films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella.

Encanto Retro Poster

Encanto is a “Heartwarming Animated Film,” according to the poster, which features Casita in muted colors with yellow butterflies and Pico the toucan. The Madrigal family’s magic candle is next to the film’s name.

Encanto was released in 2021 to major success. The first-ever Encanto ride is under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, part of the new Tropical Americas land replacing DinoLand U.S.A. The film’s original cast returned to record dialogue for the ride.

Tangled Retro Poster

The Tangled poster is shades of purple with touches of yellow, including Rapunzel’s “70 Feet of Magical Golden Hair!” The princess is pictured along with Mother Gothel, Flynn Rider, Pascal, and Maximus with iconography like Rapunzel’s tiara, The Snuggly Duckling sign, and the famous tower. Lanterns travel across the top.

Based on the Rapunzel fairy tale, Tangled was released in 2010. A live-action adaptation is in development starring Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel.
