Universal Legacy Store Returns to CityWalk Orlando

After closing “permanently” in early 2024, the Universal Legacy Store has returned to Universal Orlando Resort’s CityWalk. The store was replaced by the Epic Universe Preview Center, which closed earlier this month. The interior still retains much of the Epic Universe theming but with retro decorations, photo ops, and merchandise representing “legacy” Universal IPs, particularly Universal Monsters, E.T., Jaws, and Back to the Future.

The portal-inspired archway has been removed from the store’s entrance. A new Universal Legacy Store sign was installed a few days ago. The display windows are now filled with vibrant decorations inspired by the legacy IPs while the walls feature matching decals.

In this window, a trio of mannequins wearing retro merchandise stand in front of the iconic Universal globe. Representing Back to the Future on the left is part of the DeLorean time machine, the clock tower, and a close up of the clock with lightning.

On the right are images of the Wolf-Man and Invisible Man from the Universal Monsters franchise. They’re above a larger flat of the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

The nearby wall has decals of Back to the Future and Universal Monsters designs.

More monsters are featured on a decal next to the store’s entrance while the shark from Jaws is on the opposite wall.

A poster behind glass depicts elements from all four legacy franchises.

Universal Legacy Store Interior

Inside, new Jaws merchandise created in collaboration with Tom Whalen is on display front and center. Whalen created the distinctive art used throughout the Legacy Store.

The golden Epic Universe-inspired celestial half-circle near the entrance is now adorned with artwork for the legacy films instead.

The golden curved lines and circles based on Epic’s Celestial Park remain on the floor and columns. The merchandise displays are still the green and gold colors of Epic. But Epic Universe photo ops have been replaced by photo ops for Universal Monsters, E.T., Jaws, and Back to the Future.

The Epic Universe model has been replaced by more merchandise displays, including a series of blind boxes.

The blind box displays are topped with colorful question mark signs.

One corner is dedicated to Universal Monsters merchandise. You’ll find monsters-inspired apparel, accessories, plush, and more.

In addition to the IPs highlighted on the store’s decorations, there are also the merchandise collections for She-Ra, The Birds, and Happy Gilmore.

T-shirts in the store are 2 for $50. These include some generic Universal Studios designs.

A screen at the back of the store cycles through animations of Whalen’s artwork.

A giant Universal globe is behind the check-out counter.

Gold railings and stanchions still create the check-out queue.

Photo Ops

Each photo op has layered elements so guests can step right into the movie. The Back to the Future photo op has the DeLorean in the front, with an archway featuring the Flux Capacitor, time circuits, OUTATIME license plate, and clock. The background is the clock tower about to be struck by lightning.

The E.T. photo op has a giant version of E.T. himself on one side, holding a flower pot. On the other side of the archway is the iconic image of E.T. and the kids biking past the moon, above other flat props from the film. E.T.’s spaceship is blasting off in the background.

The Universal Monsters photo op features the Mummy, Invisible Man, Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Wolf-Man, and Frankenstein’s Monster.

Join Bruce the shark in the Jaws photo op with the Orca (Quint’s boat) to the side. In the background is the beach full of vacationers.
