Universal Orlando Resort Replaces Self-Service Ticket Kiosks with QR Codes

Following the removal of self-serve machines, Universal appears to be replacing the service with signage promoting mobile ticketing.

QR Codes Replace Self-Serve Ticketing at Universal

As of last month, park visitors at Universal Orlando Resort can no longer pick up their Universal Orlando Resort theme park tickets at self-service kiosks. The machines were removed from the entry areas of Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, where new painting is also taking place.

As of our latest visit, however, Universal has added signage to the kiosks’ former location at Islands of Adventure, offering guests an alternative via their mobile devices.

Universal Orlando Digital Will Call

The new sign reads:

Welcome to Digital Will Call

Easily access your digital tickets here by scanning the QR code.

Remember, you’ll need the purchaser’s last name and confirmation number.

Already have your tickets? You can go straight to the entrance!

Scanning the QR code leads to a Universal Orlando webpage (through a browser, not the Universal app) where users can enter their information to pull up their ticket purchases.

The removal of self-serve kiosks to replace the older machines and refurbish the immediate area. No other changes have been made to the area around the Islands of Adventure location beyond the addition of the signage.

These kiosks allowed guests to print tickets they had pre-purchased instead of visiting one of the nearby ticket windows. The new sign and its QR code could suggest a proactive effort on Universal’s part to encourage smartphone ticket management and phase out print alternatives.

We will be keeping an eye out for new machines or any other service coming to these now-empty areas.
