Despite rumors, Universal claims the land grading work on a plot of land near Epic Universe is just for “maintenance and nothing more.”
Land Grading Near Epic Universe
A few weeks ago, crews began clearing the land along Universal Blvd next to Topgolf Orlando. They then brought in sand for grading or leveling of the land. The pad is not directly connected to Epic Universe but would be a great spot for a hotel or CityWalk-like entertainment district.
A Universal Destinations & Experiences spokesperson told Orlando Business Journal, “The work recently conducted on our property along Universal Boulevard was part of land maintenance and nothing more.”
According to OBJ, a South Florida Water Management District permit for “West Parcel Mass Grading” was filed by an entity related to Universal Orlando Resort in December 2025. Though the site is a total of 87.27 acres, the permit was for grading of 35.50 acres.
Even if Universal isn’t planning imminent construction in the area, the land grading means they are at least hoping to use the space for something in the future.
