Crews continue to replace the carpeting throughout the Soarin’ queue in EPCOT with a brand-new design. They have also started to refurbish the blue lighting in the second half of the queue.
Soarin’ Carpet

There is now new carpeting in both the stand-by and Lightning Lane queues. All the old carpeting has been removed from both sides.

There is still old carpet along the ride’s exit, which you can see on the right in our photo above.

The old carpet has a beige blocky pattern, while the new design is a tan and gray geometric pattern.
Soarin’ Lights

After the carpeted portion of the queue, guests enter this hallway illuminated by strips of blue LED lights. It’s clear that the lighting on the outer walls in this hallway has been refreshed.

It’s hard to tell in photos but the lights are much brighter and possibly a slightly different shade of blue.
The lights on the center wall that separates stand-by from Lightning Lane have not been replaced.

The blue lighting in each individual concourse hallway has yet to be replaced. Compare the bright lights around the concourse signs to the dimmer lights within the hallway in our photo above.
The updates are to prepare for Soarin’ Across America, a new version of the attraction honoring America’s 250th birthday. Soarin’ Around the World will be closed beginning May 14 and Soarin’ Across America will open on May 26. There will be cast member and Annual Passholder previews.
Soarin’ Across America will then open at Disney California Adventure on July 2.
