First, the good news: Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is nearing the end of its refurbishment! Now the bad news: the whole outdoor area, including Tangaroa Terrace, will have to close for “at least” a week in May to facilitate it.
Tangaroa Terrance & Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar Will Close for “At Least” a Week
The inside of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel has been closed since March 2 for refurbishment, but the outdoor patio area has stayed open and serving guests. While Disney previously stated it would reopen in time for the 15th anniversary of Trader Sam’s on May 25, we know it will continue past that — but the end is in sight, with a caveat.
As the refurbishment enters its final phases, the entirety of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, including the outdoor patio area, and the adjoining restaurant Tangaroa Terrace, will be closed from May 14 to May 20. However, according to the source, that May 20 is “at least,” so the closure could last longer.
A permit filed in October indicates the indoor dining room will get new gas tiki torches and updated show and lighting effects, in addition to other technical improvements, but we don’t know what updates will be made to the outdoor areas or to Tangaroa Terrace.
