Harryhausen's Façade Taking Shape and Entrance Columns Revealed at Monstropolis Construction Site

Crews have been installing steel framework for Harryhausen’s façade that closely resembles the concept art, and the concrete for the entrance columns has been revealed at the Monstropolis construction site at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Harryhausen’s Steel Façade Starting to Look Like Concept Art

The Monsters, Inc. restaurant replaces Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, part of the new Monstropolis land.

Centered in the above photo, the white structural steel sections have been added to the brown steel I-beams that we reported on June 9.

With the addition of these, we can now see how it matches the shape of the façade in the concept art above.

Fresh hardened concrete has also been revealed from the forms that have been in place since June 9.

In this photo, you can see the four columns that will make up the entrance to Monstropolis. A worker on the middle-right column is actively removing the form to reveal the concrete column underneath. The column on the far right has had its form fully removed, while the two on the left have not.

The above photo is what these forms, surrounding rebar cages, looked like on June 9.
