Shanghai Disney Resort has officially hit its decade milestone! Ten years ago, on June 16, 2016, Shanghai Disney Resort opened its gates to guests from across China and around the world. The resort has since marked more than 100 million guest visits and has established itself as a landmark tourism destination that is “Authentically Disney and Distinctly Chinese.”
Prior to the park opening today, the day of Shanghai Disney Resort’s 10th anniversary, thousands of dedicated cast members and Imagineers gathered on Mickey Avenue and in the Gardens of Imagination for a historic group photo to commemorate their ten years of making magic.
Last night, on the eve of the official anniversary milestone date, Shanghai Disney Resort marked its 10th anniversary with a special gala nighttime spectacular in front of Enchanted Storybook Castle, featuring live performances, castle projections, fireworks, and appearances by Disney leaders Bob Iger and Josh D’Amaro.

The special event was held as part of Shanghai Disney Resort’s year-long “With You, It’s Magic+” 10th birthday celebration.
Then later today, on the anniversary day, more than 50 Disney characters, including Mickey and Friends, Duffy and Friends, and Pixar pals, joined the stage to lead the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday”.
The celebration featured a massive birthday cake inspired by the park’s eight iconic lands.

Top Disney executives, including CEO Josh D’Amaro, were in attendance to thank the cast and Imagineers for a decade of magic.
The media presentation earlier this week offered an incredible look at how far the resort has come since 2016.
