Sinbad Theater Totally Demolished as Lost Continent Continues to Disappears at Universal Islands of Adventure

The Lost Continent is finally living up to its name, as the former Sinbad Theater has now been completely demolished at Universal Islands of Adventure

The massive theater structure is gone, leaving behind a large excavated footprint and dirt access roads where the venue once stood.

As of the end of May, Sinbad Theater was almost completely demolished, with only skeletal remains of the former structure still visible. At that time, several excavators were already tearing through what was left of the theater, with piles of twisted metal and concrete surrounding the site.

Now, as of mid-June, nothing is left of the 1,700-seat theater. The central theater area has been carved out, with heavy equipment positioned throughout the site. Large piles of demolished material remain across the footprint, while sections of concrete and retaining walls are still visible around the former seating and stage area.

The wider aerial view shows just how much space the theater occupied. The demolition zone now stretches across a large portion of the former Sindbad’s Bazaar area. A dirt construction path cuts through the work zone, connecting the former theater footprint to backstage access roads.

Several remaining Lost Continent facades and domed structures are still standing closer to the guest-facing walkway, including that of Poseidon’s Fury.

Poseidon’s Fury closed permanently in 2023, while The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad closed in 2018. For years, the Sinbad Theater remained standing with its sets still visible to guests.

Mythos Restaurant is also on borrowed time, with its own planned closure in 2027.

Tree clearing in Lost Continent began last fall after Universal Orlando Resort confirmed upcoming “construction activity” in the land. Universal said this work was to “ensure the area is ready for any future developments.”

Lost Continent was once twice its current size. In 2010, it was partially taken over by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Its former coasters, Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn, were turned into Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff, respectively. Dragon Challenge closed permanently in 2017 and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.

Universal has not announced what land or attractions might replace Lost Continent.
