As we approach the reopening of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, exterior work continues, as the entire Space Mountain mural on the outside of the building is now completely covered.
Tomorrowland Mural Covered

While we were at Disneyland today, June 7, we saw that even more of the Space Mountain mural outside of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters had been covered up. As you can see above, the black has extended around the building. This work appears to have extended since our last visit.

In addition to the black sections, the exposed mural we saw just over the entrance of the newly reopened Little Green Men Store Command, is now completely covered in scrim.

Above was the last part of the exposed mural we saw during our most recent update last week.

Here is a close-up of the new, black high-gloss surface taking the place of the mural.

There is creasing and puckering seen on the surface as well. This could be some type of covering or paneling placed over the mural instead of its complete removal.

On the far left side of the mural, we can see the reflection of the scaffolding and scrim in the gloss finish. It is unclear at this time whether the mural covering will be part of an updated design or it is simply a part of the refurbishment of the area.
Will you be sad if the mural is truly gone? Let us know on social media!
