Guests looking for a solo expedition up the Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom may need to prepare themselves for a longer wait.

Expedition Everest Single Rider Closing Soon

Expedition Everest is one of only a handful of Walt Disney World Resort attractions that offer – or have recently offered – a single rider line for park guests. The few other attractions with single rider options throughout the resort include Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Test Track at EPCOT.

With the removal of Expedition Everest’s single rider entrance sign, however, Animal Kingdom will soon officially lose its only single rider offering.

The sign was previously located on an exterior corner of the Serka Zong Bazaar gift shop, directing single riders into a small area with a few switchback barriers leading to the ride’s load zone. Without the sign, the separate queue is no longer advertised as a regular option for guests hoping to fill otherwise single empty seats aboard the coaster.

As of writing, the My Disney Experience app still indicates “Single Rider Offered” under Accessibility & Other Information for the attraction.

Cast Members stationed around the entrance clarified with us that single rider loading is still technically open; you will just have to ask the Cast Member standing under the umbrella. However, we were told the dedicated single rider queue will officially close soon. Guests interested in using the option should inquire with Cast Members at the attraction during their visit.

The apparent closure follows a change to Expedition Everest’s loading procedure that dramatically increased waits for single riders earlier this year.

Expedition Everest is located in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The roller coaster takes guests through the Himalayan mountains, where their train encounters a broken track and the legendary Yeti.
