There are now solar-powered trash cans at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney has been progressively installing them throughout EPCOT and some have arrived at Magic Kingdom but these are the first in Animal Kingdom.

The trash cans are green with yellow silhouettes of the Tree of Life on their sides. Walt Disney Imagineering is involved in the design process to ensure the new trash cans match their environments. They have similar theming to the park’s old trash cans.

We spotted this pair of trash and recycling bins just past the park’s main entrance. The solar panels on top power interior trash compactors. And guests can open the cans with the foot pedals.

Two other pairs of cans were outside Garden Gate Gifts and on the bridge leading to Discovery Island.

After that, we only saw the old cans in the park.

Outside Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we saw a pair of cans near Rainforest Cafe.

And there were another pair at the bus stops. It looks like somebody didn’t see the foot pedal and stuffed their trash into the handle Cast Members use to open the cans and remove trash.
Disney confirmed these trash cans would be making their way to every park, Disney Springs, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and other locations.
