Refreshment Outpost – EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

Refreshment Outpost is a year-round kiosk location at EPCOT. For the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, it hosts some specialty items in addition to its usual lineup of a hot dog, ice cream, and assorted beverages. The 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival takes place July 27 – November 18, 2023.

• Spicy Githeri with White Beans, Pigeon Peas, Curried BEN’S ORIGINAL™ Long Grain & Wild Rice and Kachumbari Slaw (Plant-Based) – $5.00

Beverages:

• 🆕 Gulf Stream Brewing Co. Cloud 9 Watermelon Hibiscus Lager, Ft. Lauderdale, FL (4.3% ABV) – $11.25
• 🆕 Ciderboys Mango Tango Hard Cider, Stevens Point, WI (5.0% ABV) – $11.25
• 🆕 North Coast Brewing Co. PranQster Golden Ale, Fort Bragg, CA (7.6% ABV) – $11.25

The githeri returns in 2023, swapping the ancient grains and quinoa medley for curried long grain and wild rice.

Spicy Githeri with White Beans, Pigeon Peas, Curried BEN’S ORIGINAL™ Long Grain & Wild Rice and Kachumbari Slaw – $5.00

The flavor palate in this dish is similar to chili. It’s a nice sized dish for the price, making it one of the better vegan options at the festival. The chili flavor does permeate all the vegetables and it would be nice if they had a flavor of their own. The vegetables are limp instead of crunchy, and the dish is a bit spicy. It’s particularly cumin-heavy. While there’s nothing necessarily wrong with this dish, we’d simply rather head to Sanaa for African-inspired food, and enjoy other options for the festival.

*NEW* North Coast Brewing Co. PranQster Golden Ale, Fort Bragg, CA (7.6% ABV) – $11.25

From North Coast Brewing Co.: “Belgian Ales represent the height of the brewers’ art.
