The collection celebrating the 30th anniversary of “The Lion King” has made its way to Disneyland Resort.
“The Lion King” Throw – $69.99
We spotted the collection at Los Feliz Five & Dime in Disney California Adventure. First up is this throw blanket featuring a silhouette of Simba surrounded by a sunset of colors. We’ve also spotted it among the 30th anniversary items at Walt Disney World.
The throw is 50 inches by 60 inches, or 127 centimeters by 152 centimeters.
“The Lion King” Sweatshirt – $54.99
This pullover is red-orange with a large yellow sun on the chest. Simba, standing on Pride Rock, is silhouetted against the sun. “Disney The Lion King” is above him. The back of the sweatshirt is blank.
“The Lion King” Wooden Puzzle – $39.99
This 500-piece wooden puzzle is a poster for “The Lion King” featuring Simba, Nala, Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa. Mufasa’s face is in the blue sky above them.
The puzzle comes out to 24 inches by 17 inches, or 60.96 centimeters by 43.18 centimeters.
“The Lion King” – Deluxe Figure Set – $29.99
Re-enact “The Lion King” at home with this deluxe figure set. It includes eight figures of the following characters:
- Young Simba
- Adult Simba
- Mufasa and Zazu
- Scar
- Rafiki and baby Simba
- Timon
- Pumbaa
- Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed
The characters are standing on rocky or grassy bases. The three hyenas are on one figure. Zazu and Mufasa also share a figure.
The Rafiki figure depicts the famous moment he holds baby Simba up for the animal kingdom to see.
A Zazu shoulder plush is also available at Disneyland Resort.
The original animated “The Lion King,” loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” was released in U.S. theaters on June 15, 1994. It was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff from a screenplay by Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton.
It stars Matthew Broderick, Joseph Williams, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Jason Weaver as Simba at various ages and singing. The cast also includes Jeremy Irons as Scar; James Earl Jones as Mufasa; Moira Kelly, Sally Dworsky, Niketa Calame, and Laura Williams as Nala; Nathan Lane as Timon; Ernie Sabella as Pumbaa; Robert Guillaume as Rafiki; Rowan Atkinson as Zazu; Madge Sinclair as Queen Sarabi; and Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, and Jim Cummings as the hyenas.
