BREAKING: Disney Releases List of Villains Inspiring New Land at Magic Kingdom, Including Yzma

At D23 Brazil, Disney released a list of the villains inspiring the new land coming to Magic Kingdom.

Laughing Place shared a photo from the presentation showing the lineup for the villain-inspired land.

The pictured villains include The Queen of Hearts, Jafar, the Evil Queen (and her Old Hag form), Lady Tremaine, Yzma, Cruella, Captain Hook, Maleficent (and her dragon form), Gaston, Mother Gothel, Ursula, Hades, and Chernabog. Yzma from “The Emperor’s New Groove” is notable as she doesn’t often appear at Disney Parks. Most of the other villains have appeared in meet-and-greets or Halloween parades.

The inclusion of Yzma also calls to mind the roller-coaster to her lab that appears in “The Emperor’s New Groove.” Disney said the Villains land will have two major attractions but hasn’t stated what they are. The concept art is mostly inspired by “Sleeping Beauty” and Maleficent, with the evil fairy’s dragon appearing in the background.

According to the land’s backstory, a spell has summoned the villains and the heroes “don’t come save the day. There may not be a happily ever after!” We don’t yet know who may have summoned the villains or why.

Further details have not been announced for the Villains land at this time. The land was officially announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August 2024. Disney Parks Blog described the land as a “place where poison apples are aplenty and magic potions can ruin your whole day.” In addition to two attractions, it will include dining and shopping.

The Disney Villains land will be the first new Magic Kingdom land since Mickey’s Birthdayland (later renamed Mickey’s Toontown) opened in 1988. It will go beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

A “Cars” expansion is also planned for Frontierland, replacing Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. Together, the “Cars” area and Villains land are the largest-ever expansion to Magic Kingdom.
