Oga’s Cantina Closing for Several Weeks To Prepare for Original Trilogy Shift in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland will be closed for six weeks starting on Tuesday, January 20, for updates related to the timeline shift of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Oga’s Cantina will be closed for refurbishment into early March but an exact reopening date has not been announced.

The timeline update to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have half the land set during the original trilogy and the other half still set during the sequel trilogy. This will affect the backstory of Oga’s Cantina, although Oga will still be the proprietor and DJ R-3X will still be spinning tunes.

Disney said there would be aesthetic changes throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and that could include Oga’s Cantina.

Disney will also perform standard maintenance on the bar.

Other Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge updates will include the renaming of First Order Cargo, the incorporation of classic John Williams themes into background music, and appearances by Darth Vader, Luke, Leia, and Han Solo.

These changes will officially go into effect on April 29 but guests might see some updates before then. The timeline shift has not been announced for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, only Disneyland.
