2020 may just be the year of refurbishments, especially as we gear up for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in 2021. At the Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain is scheduled to undergo its yearly refurbishment in January 2020.
The refurbishment is expected to begin on January 6th and will last through February 27th, with the attraction reopening on February 28, 2020. Annual refurbishments like these are usually just an attraction-wide refresh, and as of publishing time, no changes have been listed as coming to the attraction.
We’ll keep you updated on the status of this and many more refurbishments across Walt Disney World. As always, you can check out our Refurbishments page for dates on all ongoing refurbs at Disney Parks.

*sigh*
White it happens every year I really hoping that this wouldn’t happen for 2020 or at least part of Jan 2020. Oh well I guess I need to plan a new Disney trip….
This attraction is really starting to show its age.
It really is. Animatronics constantly missing, the awful audio track…I love the ride but it needs an update.
I did notice during my trip last week that the raccoon (or was he a badger, I was never quite sure of the design) playing a harmonica was missing from the tree stump (but the music still played lol), so I’m assuming this is part of it.
Wrote this elsewhere, but hoping someone can help…Can anyone comment on if the regular Splash Mountain (or any ride) refurbishments could last longer than the stated duration? Ironically we plan on coming February 27 but would hate for this to get pushed back by a week and us to miss riding it. Thoughts?
It can, it shouldn’t
