When we last took a look at the upcoming France Pavilion expansion, the detail work was being finished all along the streets. The crews have been hard at work in the meantime, pushing ever closer to opening. With only three weeks left in the Summer season, it is coming down to the wire for Disney to open their expansion and new attraction within the window they announced. Let’s take a look at where they stand.
The front entrance archway to the new expansion area had its “Ratatouille” sign installed in March, then removed and reinstalled in a new form last month. A cherry picker sits just behind the arch atop black plastic sheeting.
An aerial vantage point from the Disney Skyliner affords a great overall view of the land. The light post in the bottom right of the frame still needs work, as it did in our last update. Some scattered work supplies remain around the streets and sidewalks. The gate in the upper right of the frame leads to what will be backstage, which will be seen further down in the report.
The entryway to “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” still has no sign, but the structure to hold the sign is in place. A cherry picker sits on the avenue by the fountain. Cherry pickers seem to be the main vehicle used for adding exterior decoration.
Through the gate from the third image of our report is the backstage area. It currently sits as a dirt thoroughfare, a parking spot for construction equipment and spare materials.
Another cherry picker sits backstage to access the exterior of the “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” show building to add theming touches.
Further in on the streets, more streetlamps are laid out for wiring. And the landscaped area near the building needs some work done yet.
The lane leads towards “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” with the Gusteau’s sign in the distance.
Looking now from the crossroads back toward the entry archway, we see the construction materials and gates strewn around the lane in various forms of use.
We hope you enjoyed this France Expansion construction update from EPCOT today. Things seem to be shaping up in the France Expansion at EPCOT, but will Disney meet their self-imposed deadline? Check back with WDWNT.com for future updates as construction progresses.
It looks like it will be lovely and I can’t wait for it to open. Ever since I heard DLP had a Ratatouille attraction I wondered why we in the states didn’t have one, and now we will have it. I don’t like that Kevin in a previous article for you called it “not highly desired” (the expansion area in general), unless I misunderstood what he wrote – almost anything new (and pretty!) at a park is appreciated, at least by me.
Thank you for all of your updates! I am hopeful this ride is open for our October trip. Do you have any updates on the Space 220 restaurant?
