The new walkway connecting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to the Magic Kingdom has been near completion for some time now. When we last checked on the walkway, the temperature screening tent for guests entering Magic Kingdom had been expanded. We took another trip on the Monorail this week to see if any progress has been made on the rest of the walkway and bridge.
On the Grand Floridian side of the bridge, lampposts still need to be installed, but the bases are in place.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen the bridge in position across the water. The swing-arm bridge can move to accommodate boats entering and leaving Seven Seas Lagoon. Gates on either side of the bridge will be closed when the bridge needs to move.
The Magic Kingdom side of the bridge is mostly complete.
This construction area remains to be cleaned up, but grass has been planted in some areas, which is a good sign.
This temporary ramp connects to the walkway while construction continues on the docks in front of Magic Kingdom. Guests will instead take the ramp directly into the Monorail station.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be reopening on September 21st, so it’s possible the walkway will be opening at the same time or soon after.
Will you be taking this walkway to and from the Grand Floridian, or would you rather stick to the Monorail? Let us know in the comments.
We will be there in October and will have to check it out if it’s completed!
Can’t wait for this walkway to be open. It is so relieving at park closure to just walk past the crowds and back to the Contemporary resort. Now the same option is there for the GF, especially since it is the last stop on the monorail when leaving the MK. I also can’t wait to go jogging on this walkway at 5 am before the whole park “wakes” up. This is when you can see maintenance crews rearranging whole landscapes, the sprinkler system running, and my own form of magical serenity! I imagine it will be pretty easy to get a few magical exercise miles in between Polynesian through the GF and to the MK and back before all the stress of a busy day.
Will definitely take the walkway! We are staying at the Grand Flo October 15th. Hope the walkway is open by then.
How long will the walk be?
Hopefully there will come a day to return to WDW maskless with park hopping…and a walk over to the GF would be enjoyable.
Yes yes yes!!
Hidden Mickey cloud!
The walkway will be a good addition. But we always enjoy the monorail. And even more, we enjoy slowing down, relaxing on the boat ride between the Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian! ✨🏰✨
How far approximately would you say the walk is?
A stroll during the golden hour sounds lovely.
Does anyone know if it’s finished yet!? I don’t know why this makes me so excited :D
