‘Olu Mel is now meeting guests at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawai’i. Previously known as simply ‘Olu, ‘Olu Mel is the newest friend of Duffy who made his debut at Aulani in 2018. The costumed character first appeared at Shanghai Disney Resort last fall.
The additional “Mel” is short for “melody” because ‘Olu Mel loves to sing and play ukulele. This sea turtle also enjoys nature, which is where he finds his musical inspiration.
‘Olu Mel joins other Disney characters at Aulani, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Stitch.
Aulani also now has exclusive ‘Olu Mel and Duffy and Friends merchandise featuring a Tori Richard aloha print. If you’re stuck on the mainland, Walt Disney World also has some ‘Olu Mel merchandise at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
