In an interview with The Wrap, Lin-Manuel Miranda shared his vision for an “Encanto” attraction at a Disney Park.
When asked if he wants a theme park attraction or a Colombia pavilion at EPCOT, Miranda said, “Well, I took my kids to Disneyland for the first time pre-pandemic a few years ago. And we sat through The Little Mermaid thing five times in a row. That’s where my brain goes. It’s like, I want to go in and out of this casita and see those characters and see the house respond because that’s something Disney can do that no one else can do. But yeah, in terms of the world of the characters, it’s really early days on that. I don’t know what that will be.”
In response to CEO Bob Chapek referring to “Encanto” as a “franchise,” Miranda said he spoke to Chapek and said, “I know there’s a world in which this casita lives in a theme park and we get to actually walk through it in real life.” He also pointed out that there could be a second movie, TV series, or stage adaptation.
As Miranda said, it’s early days, and an “Encanto” attraction probably wouldn’t arrive at a Disney Park for several years, if ever — see the “Moana” attraction still being constructed.
That said, “Encanto” has been a huge hit, with multiple Academy Award nominations, a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, and a return to theaters. In the parks, “Encanto” protagonist Mirabel has appeared at Disney California Adventure and there is an “Encanto”-themed booth at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.

Lin announced earlier in the month on broadway sites that the musical is already in the works. The final song btw is 10 mins long. And i for one could only see it as a show weather on broadway or at wdw and dak would be a better fit then epcot. Hello antonio is as much as mirabel is in this film and hes the animal kid.
WHAT LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA WANTS: A magical walkthrough of the Encanto Casita featuring the characters and music of the film.
WHAT DISNEY WILL CREATE: A wild mouse coaster “through” an open-roofed Casita, which will “allow” guests to bask in the California- I mean, Colombia sun… and if you listen closely, you can hear “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” in the queue. A clone will be plopped down next to the Mexico pavilion in Epcot, which will be called the “All of Latin America Pavilion”.
I’m so excited for anything that is to come, love the movie
Absolutely!!!!!
Even if it was a few years ago, how does Miranda and his kids get to sit through 5 continous showings of Little Mermaid? Must be nice to have connections while the rest of us have to wait in line just to see it once as the theater is supposed to be emptied after each showing. And there shouldn’t be a new attraction based on an animated film either. Look how they ruined Norway by removing the Maelstrom and putting in Frozen.
They went on the Little Mermaid ride at Disney California Adventure. It’s pretty much a walk on a lot of the time. Just about anyone could ride it 5 times in an hour.
I don’t understand the love for this movie. It was decent at best. Certainly below a lot of other Disney releases in the last decade or so. Does not come close to Moana and Coco.
An Encanto attraction in animal kingdom going through Antonio’s door would be awesome..since he can understand animals its a great fit for that park. The energy you get when he discovers his door has the makings of a great attraction.
We don’t need anymore rides at Disney based on movies. Save the money and use it to fix the rides that need it.
