Soarin’ Around the World will open at both Epcot and Disney California Adventure tomorrow morning, and while guests will still be able to soar in a familiar surrounding, Chief Flight Attendant Patrick may not be welcoming guests to Soarin’…

Patrick Warburton portrayed the character in the preshow of the attraction which operated for 15 years in California and 11 in Florida, becoming a beloved theme park icon by fans. The loss of the character is already being met with sadness from fans around the world, despite the tweet being quite cryptic.

On a bright note Warburton’s voice now graces the queue and pre-show of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, so he will continue to be a part of the Disney Parks for a long time to come regardless of what happens tomorrow.

So, what awaits us tomorrow in Soarin’ Around the World? You will have to tune in to find out…

  • Doesn’t necessarily sound like he’s going away. Just sounds like he’s saying farewell to the old show (hopefully) The WDW version had the “over california” part cut out. I was hoping they would use that video everywhere.

  • I really hope he’s on the new version. My family will miss him if he’s not. We all love his perfectly executed commentary.

  • I did the DCA tour last year and found out, in the scene where he double checks he has said everything and he looks at his paper in his hands.. that was actually his script. I was told John Travolta was meant to do it, but had to cancel and Patrick, who lived close by got a call and asked if he could come in that day, he did and that is why he has his lines on the paper, because he only just started working on it before it was shot..

Sad if he is not on it going forward, but also, as the ride is new, maybe its time for something else. I hope that they mix up the rides soon and that one theatre is the classic for a few days every now and again

  • When guests see Patrick on the screen in Soarin’ Over CA preshow, it is quite funny listening to people of various ages call out who Patrick is to them.. To me he’s Puddy from Seinfeld. His “identity” changes with the age of the guest!!!

  • I have been on the new version 4 times. Patrick is still there and the spiel is exactly the same except they cut out the word California. Even the preshow film is identical to the one we have always seen.
