Tonight, for a special filming featuring the band Hanson, the Hollywood Toy Hotel projection  landed on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror for the first time.

This will be just a small part of Sunset Seasons Greetings at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, debuting November 9th.

  1. I don’t understand this. Temporary show projections on anything and everything is fine – if it works. I would say it was pretty obvious that this was going to be problematic from the concept art phase – too many competing features.

You can’t – or shouldn’t – overlay art with multiple detailed facets and colors, over something with competing detailed facets and colors. Visually they fight each other and it just doesn’t look good – especially from the irregular perspectives throughout the park that viewers have with this particular structure.

In short, why not create art/animation that actually utilizes/matches the unique dimensional ToT facade? And – maybe the larger issue – why theme it to something so diametrically opposed to the ride’s existing theme? There’s an immediate psychological disconnect.

If it has to TS on ToT – so be it. But at least use the building’s features to your advantage instead of fighting with it. Just my 2c.
