Tarte à la Tomate Provençale: Provencal Tomato Tart with Sautéed Onions, Fresh Thyme and Rosemary on a Flaky Pastry Crust (V) – $5.50
The outer crust was extremely hard and almost inedible. However, once you got past that, the center of the tart had a filling that was very savory. We expected a greater tomato flavor with the title of the dish, but having them sliced and placed on top of the tart was a great way to get the full flavor without it being in the filling. A relatively large portion for the price and a unique offering for the farm-to-table concept.
Canard Confit Aux Gnocchi à la Parisienne: Braised Duck Confit with Parisian Gnocchi – $5.75
The gnocchi was very well done and tasted like it was made in-house. Overall, we felt the dish had more mushroom than duck. The duck wasn’t gamey or greasy like expected, which was a pleasant surprise. The sauce matched the mushrooms, duck, and noodles together well though it’s a very heavy dish. We wouldn’t order this in 95 degree weather.
Macaron au Chocolat en Sucette: Large Chocolate Macaron Lollipop (GF) – $4.95
This macaron arrives cold and attached to a stick, allowing you some nice photo opportunities. Get ready for chocolate overload because there’s an abundance inside and out. A very refreshing and tasty item to enjoy while Florida heats-up once again.
La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy: Grey Goose Orange, St. Germain Liqueur, White and Red Cranberry Juice – $10.75
France once again brings an alcoholic slushy to the Festival. This time it’s a very floral and fruity vodka concoction that’s a light pink color. It actually smells like a rose! The St. Germain Liqueur doesn’t overpower the cranberry and orange flavors, which makes for a well balanced cocktail. Recommended.
That whole gnocchi thing, is by no way a French dish.. This : http://p1.storage.canalblog.com/14/83/812346/61542971.jpg is a real French example of a confit de canard dish.
