UPDATE: Disney has told us that their representative misspoke and the show will not close anytime soon.
It appears that young Jedi may only have a few days left to train at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney travel agents said they were told during a web conference Tuesday afternoon that the popular Jedi Training academy is expected to close sometime within the next month.
The last listed performances listed for the show will take place Nov. 3, according to the Disney World website.
The calendar on the Jedi training page currently goes through April 7, 2019, but each day after Nov. 3 says that no performances are scheduled for that day.
Last week, it was rumored that Jedi Training would also close at Disneyland after former cast member and Jedi trainer Natalie Atkins mentioned the news on her Facebook wall that “Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple” will be shutting down as the opening of Galaxy’s Edge grows closer.
The travel agent who posted the news said that the attraction at Walt Disney World is expected to reopen at an unspecified later date with some changes.
Walt Disney World has not made any official announcement about the closure of the show, about any changes that might be made or how this news will tie in with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge next year.
That’s OK, really, time for something new.
Does anyone else think, as I do, that perhaps Star Tours will close for good soon, because the new Millennium Falcon ride will be too similar to or even better than Star Tours at both HS and Disneyland? Plus the possibly-temporary ending of Jedi Training would be for while the show relocates to the new lands. And gets redesigned in the interim. It would make sense for DHS if Star Tours closes down, since Jedi Training happens just outside the ride.
That’s terrible. It’s a great interactive show. I hope it’s just moved to galaxy’s edge and not completely stopped. I truly dislike them cutting entertainment in the parks, esp for the kids.
Thanks for posting an update. We go in February and it’s on our to do list
Why? This is an experience that my kids loved and begged for when going to Hollywood Studios. I know there are great things to come but there is nothing like fighting Darth Vadar. Very sad to see it go!
i still don’t trust it. the last day showing showtimes is 12/8/18. i will be taking the kids next weekend just in case.
