Today’s the day! The Tomorrowland Speedway is back after a lengthy refurbishment and here to stay for a few more years of fumes and sputtering motor sounds.

While the attraction received a number of changes to its exterior in the form of new paint and a cleaner, more updated look, the track itself wasn’t changed much to accommodate for the upcoming TRON coaster adjacent to it. It was merely shortened, but otherwise unchanged, much to the relief of Speedway enthusiasts everywhere.

Whether Disney could’ve done something more creative with this refurb, like introduce electric cars or apply a Wreck-It Ralph theme to the attraction (which, for some reason, is being done over at the former Stitch’s Great Escape) is still a point of contention for many, but given all the drastic changes going on throughout Walt Disney World, you could say we’re thankful that a bit of nostalgia is sticking around.

  1. I like this version better than Disneyland’s. Landscaping looks crisp and has a nice simple track with beautiful vlean views all around, and SUPER cool looking cars!

  2. Personally, I’m sorry to see it up and running again. The quiet in that part of MK was magical.

  3. They definitely should have changed these to electric cars, there is zero reason not to do so.

  4. Just watching the POV really gives me a strong sense of nostalgia. However, this attraction just needs to GO!
