There’s no denying that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has always been beautiful. The stunning lobby and picturesque savannas are just the start. The rooms have always been nice, but thanks to the recent refurbishments, they’re looking even better than before. We took a tour of one of the newly remodeled rooms at Jambo House and we were pretty impressed.
The rooms feature so many details, we were overwhelmed at first. This is much nicer than we expected. After touring the neutral-looking (somewhat sterile) rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, it was delightful to see so many Disney touches worked into the decor.
And the flooring looks so fresh and clean! It’s nice that they picked a darker wood laminate as it matches the general darker wood tones of the room.
The headboard matches with the African style of the resort, and even has optional backlighting.
There are reading lights next to the bed, and the light switches are even labeled.
The bedside tables have tiny Simba carvings on them. The cutest part!
There are plenty of outlets all over the room. Everyone can charge their electronics now!
Next to the dresser and TV, there is a small table and two chairs. They’re practical and don’t seem to take up too much space in the room.
There’s also a comfortable-looking chair and foot stool, next to a table and lamp.
The bathroom features two pocket doors. Instead of doors that swing in and out, they slide back and forth. There’s one to separate the toilet and shower, and another to separate the room off from the entire bathroom. This is perfect for adding a little more space and privacy to the bathroom.
There’s a large mirror, with optional back-lighting, and double sinks.
There’s even cute Lion King artwork in here, too!
Most of the refurbished rooms have the walk-in showers, as seen here. There are rooms that do offer bath tubs, so you’ll want to make sure you put in a special request if that’s your preference. The shower here is probably the only part of this refurb where they could’ve done better. That tile design is somewhat jarring…
The shower has a double head, a shave ledge, and a space for more toiletries. And of course, the large bottles of Disney soaps attached to the wall.
There’s a lighted makeup mirror in the bathroom.
Opposite the pocket door, you’ll find the closet doors. One side is for longer garments, and the other side has shelving and a room safe.
Hooray for Keurigs in the room! It kinda makes you want to sing The Circle of Life, right?
Open the drawers, and you’ll find K Cups and other necessities.
You’ll also find a clear front mini fridge below.
There is even the soft night light type of glow from the outlets in the bathroom.
The beds are lifted off the ground and there is space under the bed for storage. This is nice for getting luggage out of the way!
There’s a cute pattern on the drapes.
And if you have a savannah view, you can’t beat seeing a giraffe from your balcony.

We really love the look of the new remodeled rooms, and can’t wait to stay in them! What do you think of these newly refurbished rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge?
Looks great, except the hospital floors. Bring back carpet.
I love the solid surfaces floors- carpets are dirt and germ magnets!
I’ll take the laminate! A lot of hotels are doing everything they can to prevent bed bugs, and I can see about 4 different techniques just in these pics! (Removing carpeting, non-fabric headboard, upholstered furniture has very fitted cushions and not loose fluffy ones, hard-surface platform bed).
It’s nice to see they’re trying to prevent the problem!
Nasty carpet that tracks germs and holds dust and dander? No thanks! It feels so much cleaner to walk on laminate! I don’t worry about my baby eating a dropped piece of food because I see the housekeepers mopping with the disinfecting pads. I love the laminate! Also, thanks for your hard work always getting us the latest info! Love these new rooms!!
Agreed. Not a fan of hard floor, especially when replacing the carpet would make it just as good as it was when the hotel first opened. No one complained then, so don’t complain years later as though it were always gross.
Any word on what to request for these rooms?
Annie,
Do you know if doors have been added for privacy going into the bathroom? I was so disappointed when we stayed there in 2015 because of this. Not the toilet, shower room
Looks awesome. Such a relief to see theming like this again!
I love these rooms so much! I’m hoping to experience them next week!
No ceiling fan?
I’m not crazy about the body wash and shampoo being attached to the showers. To me it seems unsanitary and cheap.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t these rooms used to have ceiling fans? That’s a bummer if those were removed.
Have all the rooms been refurbished? I booked a savannah view room and I put in a request for a newly refurbished room with a walk-in shower, however, I’ve noticed that Florida Resident/Annual Passholder “special” rates do not always get the best rooms. :(
Hi
Do we know if only savannah view rooms have been refurbished or if standard view ones have too?
We are currently in a refurbished standard room which to our delight has a partial savannah view
