Since opening the 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck last year at Disney Springs, 4 Rivers Smokehouse has expanded to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and according to the restaurant’s creator, they may not be done expanding on WDW property just yet.
In an interview for the Orlando Sentinel, 4 Rivers creator John Rivers teased a possible expansion of the restaurant’s “footprint” at Walt Disney World, though he conceded that he couldn’t officially confirm anything at the moment, saying:
…Disney has really created a whole new opportunity for us. Last year, we opened the food truck at Disney Springs, which was a lot of fun because it gave me the opportunity to create a new brand. Then we put two new units out at ESPN [Wide World of Sports Complex] and their new arena, two concession stands and we are looking to expand that relationship with Disney and the footprints there next year. I’m not at a point where I can announce that, but they’re great partners and we are really, really excited about expanding our business with them.
Whether any potential future locations will be in the cantina or the traditional smokehouse format, any chance for more smoked meats (especially 4 Rivers’) at Walt Disney World is, in this reporter’s eyes, always welcome.
