It’s the end of an era for Future World.

Saturday marked the final day of operation for Club Cool, Fountain View, Mickey & Friends Character Spot, and the old Innoventions West hallway.

While many said their tearful goodbyes to the Fountain of Nations on Saturday, it was still running yesterday for its last day, but has since been drained and surrounded by planters and construction walls along with the rest of the Future World area ahead of demolition.

These construction walls precede the demolition work that will take place to make way for Epcot’s new Festival Center and a portion of one of the new neighborhood concepts that will comprise the new Epcot: World Celebration.

  1. Shameful! Though I shouldn’t expect much more out of the money-hungry, morally-void, thieves that run the modern day Walt Disney Company…

  2. I am all for the changes coming to EPCOT, but they are demolishing one of the more useful buildings. What about the other former Communi-Core/Innoventions buildings? I will miss Club Cool and hope it comes back again in another form… but if not, there is the paid, beverage sample experience at Coca-Cola at Disney Springs. Meanwhile, it will be good to see all those strange colors disappear and the nasty smell of all those Coke syrups in storage vanish. Not sure why they painted the buildings to look like that, but someone was on some good drugs when they had that idea… just commenting. I hope they don’t do the same to the Odyssey building… but so far, it looks like we’ll be getting more strange colors at EPCOT, judging from the start of the Odyssey’s new paint job.

BUT, change is good. I’m happy to see Ratatouille and Mary Poppins attractions coming to World Showcase. I always felt that the pavilions needed attractions. Still waiting on Mt. Fuji ride in Japan!

  3. Wait! Yanking the dancing fountain out? Huge change. Yowza. What happened to the monoliths with the pictures of the folks that were removed from the entrance? Last month staff at the gate didn’t know!
