REVIEW: Sweaty Eggnog Elf Cupcake Sneaks into Disney’s Polynesian Resort

Nothing says Christmas quite like elves, eggnog, and cupcakes. Or so someone at Disney thought when they dreamed up this… slightly terrifying elf cupcake.

The cupcake is a small dome shape sitting flat on a disc and built to look like a little tiny elf head. Red and green frosting line the bottom to look like a striped scarf. The elf’s skin is constructed out of a thin layer of white chocolate with milk chocolate and frosting to make eyes, ears, a nose, a mouth, and little sideburns. On top of his head there is a little red and green striped hat made of the same frosting as the scarf border. It comes from a cooler case and sits atop a gold cardboard disc as the base.

One of the first things we noticed about this cupcake is that the white chocolate face was immediately sweating once it came out of the cooler. The mild sweating on this cupcake made it seem kind of alive and made it even more terrifying than before. It’s not very appetizing…

Just look at this sweaty little guy. My face when I realize there’s only two weeks left to buy Christmas presents.

We put an end to his misery and cut him open to see the inside — and it just looks like a regular vanilla cake. No special fillings or extra icing inside.

After digging in, we couldn’t really tell where the eggnog flavor was supposed to be. It tasted like a regular vanilla cupcake with a little bit of fall spice to it. Overall, the cupcake itself is tasty, but it does not have the flavor that is expected with the description.

The frosting was incredibly sweet and gets everywhere. This cupcake definitely requires a larger plate, a fork, and several napkins.

He died a brutal death and looks even worse after a few bites than he does straight out of the case. You may need to have a talk with your kids about death before all this goes down.

Same.

You can find this cupcake and try it for yourself at Kona Island in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for $5.99. The elf cupcake is available alongside this Christmas tree cupcake.

  1. This made me seriously cackle… that sweaty elf is me hoping all my packages arrive before Christmas. Looks like a thoroughly revolting cupcake!
