For lovers of Ghirardelli Soda Fountain’s incredible sundaes, there’s bad news and good news.

The bad news is that the “Soda Fountain” side has closed for a two-week refurbishment, lasting from January 13th through the 26th, losing indoor seating for the popular ice cream location.

The good news is that the full menu is still available during this refurbishment at the walk-up counter in the “Chocolate Shop” portion of the building.

We have a full tour of how the refurbishment is affecting the location:

The doors leading to the usual ordering location have colorful signage that directs guests to the walk-up counter.

Three of the doors feature sundaes inspired by Ghirardelli chocolates.

There’s the Ocean Beach, inspired by Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, the Marina, inspired by Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Raspberry, and the Mint Bliss, inspired by Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Mint. (I lean towards the Marina, myself.)

Inside, a cast member provides menus for guests looking to order ice cream, as the sundaes are not on the walk-up counter menu.

Obviously, this change has brought even more people into the usually crowded retail location.

Cast members are hard at work providing the classic Ghirardelli sundaes to guests.

Of course, the standard walk-up counter menu is still available, including the classic Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip Cookie. (It makes me nostalgic for the days of the Sea Cliff sundae!)

Meanwhile, the side that faces the Soda Fountain is walled off, so there’s no peeking at the work to come.

For those looking for somewhere to sit and enjoy their Nob Hill Chills, there’s still limited outdoor seating around the building. As previously stated, the refurbishment is expected to run through January 26th.
