Jaleo by Jose Andres Launches New Employee Support Fund In Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Closures; Discount Gift Cards Now Available For Disney Springs Location

First, he brought world-class Spanish tapas to Disney Springs. Then, he played a key role in assisting in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian in Abaco and the Grand Bahamas islands. Chef Jose Andres’ humanitarian efforts, with the establishment of the World Central Kitchen and beyond, makes us proud to support Jaleo and eat delicious croquetas as often as we can. And now, as if we needed an excuse to love Chef Jose Andres any further, Jaleo has established a new Employee Support Fund to help assist its employees throughout the duration of the COVID-19 closures.

Jaleo’s Instagram page recently posted promoting the new employee relief effort:

“In response to an outpouring of support from the community about how to help our team during restaurant closures, we created a special e-gift card program. Starting today, you can purchase a gift card for 20% off, and all of the money will go directly toward our employees: half of it to extending pay and benefits beyond two weeks, and half of it to ThinkFamilyFund, which provides relief to our team and their families during financial hardship. Visit #linkinbio for more details or to purchase a gift card, and thank you to everyone for helping us through this difficult time.”

With Jaleo at Disney Springs now closed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, starting today, you can purchase a gift card for Jaleo or any ThinkFoodGroup managed restaurant — America Eats Tavern, Beefsteak (Washington DC locations) China Chilcano, Jaleo (Washington DC; Bethesda, MD; Crystal City, VA; Orlando, FL), Oyamel, Mercado Little Spain, Zaytinya, barmini and minibar by José Andrés at a 20% off discount, and all money will go directly towards its employees. Half of which will go towards extending pay and benefits beyond the two-week closure, which is incredible foresight given that many analysts are hinting at a delayed reopening in light of recent announcements and CDC guidelines.

These online gift cards start at $25. To purchase a gift card, click here.

In light of all the recent layoffs and terminations across Disney Springs, we think this is an excellent idea to support these employees directly, and we can’t wait to head back to Jaleo once Disney Springs reopens for a piping hot, comforting bowl of paella. If you’re in the D.C. area, Jose Andres is currently testing “community kitchens” offering to-go boxes as low as $7 in order to keep local communities fed and employed throughout the pandemic.
