Walt Disney World Resort is set to close after Sunday, March 15th, in response to growing concerns over the Coronavirus. Today is March 14th and the painting of Cinderella Castle continues to make big progress before our eyes at the Magic Kingdom.
All 6 cherrypickers were up upon our arrival and the official opening of the park.
One section in particular stood out to us today. A high section around a window facing off to the right has already gone full “Rose Pink”!
You can see the color difference is dramatic, even from all the way down here.
Here we not only see the “Rose Pink”, but also the “golden” accents.
As you can see, Cinderella Castle will look quite different when this is all said and done.
We don’t know how this project will progress through the Walt Disney World shutdown that will start next week, but it sounds like these cast members will still be reporting to work. Regardless, we are taking every opportunity to gaze on our beloved Cinderella Castle, and we will be ecstatic to see it again once Walt Disney World is back open.
I fear that our beloved Castle will become as ugly as the castle in Paris colorwise.
The colors are too drastic but hopefully fade quickly in the Florida sun. Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty’s Castle’s blue currents are too blue as well. I’m not sure what they are trying to accomplish here since the stark colors do not reflect anything in the movies or storybooks since castles are always pictured in a subtle light, not a bold you-can’t-miss-seeing-this appearance. My understanding is that Tokyo will not be following suit with their identical castle. If you look at their attractions and products you would understand why.
I know everyone is sad that Disney world is closing! But think about it, what a glorious opportunity for the Disney Imagineering is to really get a jump on all of their planned updates and construction. They will not have to worry about the crowd and they probably will be able to go 24 seven with their improvements so it may be bad, but it’ll be great when it’s opened.
Drastic!
I don’t like what I see so far! Wonder if they took a poll from visitors. Parents and Grandparents who have been there many years. I have special Memories of looking down Mainstreet at the beautiful castle with blue spires reaching into the sky. I look forward to that every year when we arrive. It is special. Sometimes change is good. Sometimes tradition is better.
I’m not a fan of the pink. I REALLY like the gold accents, but the pink makes it look more cartoon and less “brought to real life.” One of my favorite things was seeing the castle as soon as you enter and it was like a magical glowing pearl. Now it will truly look like it was all fake and make-believe. I know it is, but the idea was that it could be real when you were at Disney. I would rather see it go back to the lighter color (although I’m sure it’s harder to keep clean).
