Two NBA Players Test Positive for COVID-19 While Quarantined in Walt Disney World “Bubble”

Despite all of the steps being taken to keep NBA players safe within the Walt Disney World bubble, the NBA has just informed the press that two players have tested positive for COVID-19 out of a total of 322 currently residing within the campus.

Of the 322 players tested for COVID-19 since arriving on the NBA Campus July 7, two have returned confirmed positive tests while in quarantine. Those players never cleared quarantine and have since left the Campus to isolate at home or in isolation housing.

Since July 1, during in-market testing, 19 NBA players newly tested positive. These players are staying in their home markets and recovering until they are cleared under CDC guidelines and NBA rules for leaving home isolation and joining the Campus.

NBA players within the Disney bubble are currently staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

  1. The question is how “air-tight” is the bubble? I can keep the team confined to the one resort and the arena. But what about all the support staff from Disney? If they are moving between resorts and going home at night, then they could bring into the bubble.
