UPDATE: Disney Clarifies Guest Relations Miscommunication Regarding Face Shields, All Guests Still Require Standard Masks

Despite earlier reports from Guest Relations Cast Members stating that guests requesting alternative accommodations would be able to wear face shields in lieu of face masks (with some restrictions), Walt Disney World has issued clarification stating that all guests will still be required to wear standard face masks.

Guest Relations Cast Members were informed of this change, reportedly set to go into effect tomorrow, July 14. Initially they were instructed to provide face shields for guests, but that was later changed. It’s unknown if face shields will become an alternative accommodation in the future, but for now Disney has confirmed that all guests over the age of 2 must wear a face mask.

Universal Orlando Resort has implemented the use of face shields for guests with disabilities; guests must wear a specific wristband issued by Guest Services after requesting alternate accommodations.

  1. Geez Louise! Who is in charge at Disney? This constant mixed messaging is getting tedious and embarrassing. Get the story straight before shooting out a press release for a change.

  2. This is outrageous. Already cancelled our trips twice over this complete asinine policy. Disney will not get a dime from me until they stop playing politics and start treating their Guests like real Guests, instead of pawns.

We are real people who spend thousands of hard-earned dollars to go to WDW. STOP PLAYING GAMES WITH US!! Disgusting.
