BREAKING: Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, Universal’s Aventura Hotel, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, and Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites to Remain Closed Through 2020

Starting tomorrow, August 21, both Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and Universal’s Aventura Hotel will temporarily cease operations at Universal Orlando Resort. While a reopening date was previously uncertain, it has been confirmed that these resorts will in fact remain closed through the end of 2020. In addition, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites will also remain closed.

Guests impacted by the temporary closures are being given the option to either change to another resort, or modify their dates for a future stay.

Guests booked at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort within the closure period have received the following email informing them of their options, which includes a free upgrade to a Premier Hotel of their choice:

Loews Sapphire Falls Resort has temporarily suspended operations, and we’d like to assist you in modifying your upcoming reservation to enjoy a complimentary upgrade to a Premier Hotel during your stay, Hard Rock Hotel or Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and the additional theme park benefits that come with staying at a Premier Hotel for this inconvenience. If you prefer, you may also modify your travel dates for a future stay at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort.

Guests booked at Universal’s Aventura Hotel within the closure period have received the following email informing them of their options, which includes a transfer to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and a $50 dining credit:

Universal’s Aventura Hotel has temporarily suspended operations, and we’d like to assist you in modifying your upcoming reservation to enjoy Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. If you prefer, you may also modify your travel dates. We wish to extend a $50 Hotel Dining Credit to use at select hotel dining outlets during your stay of 2+ nights, because of any inconvenience this may have caused.

Unlike Aventura and Sapphire Falls, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel never reopened with the rest of Universal Orlando Resort. Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites was meant to have its grand opening alongside its sister resort, Surfside Inn, but that grand opening is now indefinitely delayed.

We’ll continue to update you as more details arise on these breaking closures at Universal Orlando Resort.

I absolutely lucked out. I had a 3 night stay @ Aventura (Upgraded King Deluxe) in early November. We did not receive an email (until today) but immediately called UO Customer Service when we saw the news. Staff was awesome and upgraded us to Hard Rock Deluxe King Room and got the $50 credit. Which I see is no longer the case.
