Users may soon upload into The Grid when TRON Lightcycle / Run opens in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. And with construction underway once more after the parks reopening, the ride is making slow-and-steady progress. The exposed track, canopy supports, and show building have all been seen going up in the last several months. And now, the show building is slowly being enclosed in siding along the side that remained open until now. In past updates, we have seen the grey paneling covering two sides of the show building. Now, we are seeing a concerted effort on the third side of the building, covering it over in dark blue panels.

This view, taken from outside Magic Kingdom near Disney’s Contemporary Resort, shows the back side of the building. The blue panels are being added to the side of the show building amidst the scaffolding surrounding it.

Our last update saw the first of these blue panels installed. That section of panels to the right with the window had been recently installed then, and the panels in center frame are all new.

The panels are still new and their protective films have yet to be fully removed.

The ride is currently under construction. Although the parks’ shutdown may have derezzed our hopes of seeing an opening prior to the 50th anniversary of Magic Kingdom in October 2021 as originally planned, the official park guidemap to the park does list it as “Now Programming,” teasing a hopeful opening in the near-ish future.

  1. It does look to be an amazing ride. Seeing how large the show building is in person is something that I didn’t expect.
