Every week is a busy week when it comes to Universal Parks news. To help you keep up with all the updates coming out of Universal Orlando Resort and other Universal resorts around the world, here’s our Universal Parks News Today weekly recap from September 13 to September 20, 2020.
Universal Orlando Resort

- Universal Orlando Resort extended the furloughs of over 5,000 employees
- Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure both hit capacity as Halloween festivities began

Universal Studios Florida
- After noticing curtains added to the park’s suspicious sign stands, Universal officially announced two Halloween Horror Nights houses would open for a test run for the weekend
- They also announced there would be an exclusive Premiere Passholder preview on Friday, September 18
- The next day, signs for the houses and food trucks arrived
- An additional U-Rest area opened in the New York section of the park
- As Halloween festivities began, we checked out the Scarecrow Stalk scavenger hunt
- We tried a Circus Peanut Butter Cocktail at the new Skeleton Bar in Cafe La Bamba
- During Passholder previews, we got to experience the Revenge of the Tooth Fairy haunted house
- And the Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives haunted house
- We reviewed Twisted Frank-N-Coils with Blood and Guts at one of the food trucks
- And Franken Fried Chicken with Funnel Brains and Electrofried Skin and Guts at the other food truck
- On September 19, we caught crowds and long lines at the parks as guests headed to the haunted houses
- Universal surveyed guests about their experiences at the modified haunted houses
- Check out our review from Skeleton Bar, where we sampled shrimp cocktail, mac and cheese, and a candy corn slush

Universal’s Islands of Adventure
- Among the Halloween festivities announced for Universal Orlando was trick-or-treating for kids throughout Islands of Adventure
- We got a look at the three raptors and a ride vehicle inside the Velocicoaster construction site
- The next day, we saw another ride vehicle and spotted the InGen logo
- A ride vehicle wrapped in plastic was being tested this week too
- We learned more about the trick-or-treat locations for September 19 and September 20

Universal CityWalk Orlando

Universal Studios Japan
- We got a look at the completed Super Nintendo World opening soon at Universal Studios Japan, unfortunately, its opening has been delayed to “early next year”
- We got a video of the dedication of Universal Halloween, including a fun dance
- The “Zom-Beats” a cappella group debuted for Halloween as well
New Merchandise
- Two blue Universal masks arrived at Universal Orlando
- A Hello Kitty “Chucky” collection at Universal Studios Japan combines cute and scary
