As crossbeams are removed from the roof of the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, sections of the horizontal beam are also disappearing. The next piece is now gone, leaving the crossbeam structure smaller than ever.

Beam removal is progressing from the left side of the structure.

The first two horizontal pieces and the first vertical support have been removed.

Concept art for the refurbishment shows that there will still be a similar crossbeam structure on the reimagined roof. It seems workers are dismantling the current structure entirely instead of using it as a base.

Only about one quarter of the crossbeams have been removed, so there is still a lot of work to do.

Inside the Great Ceremonial House, the glass roof has now been entirely covered to protect the skylights during construction. Yesterday, we could still see some of the crossbeams from inside.

For now, the monorail station remains open and the sign has been updated to reflect the ever-changing park hours at Magic Kingdom.

In addition to the refreshed Great Ceremonial House, the resort will get Moana-themed rooms before it reopens next summer, though we likely won’t get a look at those for some time. Are you excited for the refurbishment of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort? Let us know in the comments.
