PHOTOS, VIDEO: Tour A Remodeled “The Little Mermaid” Room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

With the reopening of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, we were surprised to find that our The Little Mermaid room had been remodeled during the resort’s over seven-month closure. Join us as we go under the sea for this room tour!

The previous Full-size beds have been replaced with plush new Queen-size mattresses. The new bed frames are raised for more suitcase storage.

While the seashell shape and light of the headboards are the same, there are extra details.

One headboard has some seaweed floating next to it.

Ariel is hiding behind the other headboard.

As we’ve seen with most of Walt Disney World’s value resorts, themed bedding is gone and replaced with plain white sheets.

A painting of Eric, Scuttle, and Max hangs on the wall next to the beds.

This fish-lined mirror has seashells that light up, so you can take the perfect selfie and look just like Ariel in “Under the Sea”.

The bright coral-colored chairs are shaped like open clamshells.

The table has sheet music for “Under the Sea” printed on it, in case you want to practice your singing.

The flat-screen TV is brand-new.

There used to be an additional shelf piece on top of the dresser. This has now been removed in favor of a back piece that has additional standard and USB outlets.

One side of the dresser has faux drawers, making up a cabinet door that hides the mini-fridge.

There’s of course an ice bucket and sealed TV remote.

There’s also a coffee maker, which wasn’t always a standard amenity in these rooms.

A major difference in the remodeled room is that the floor is now hard laminate instead of carpet. It’s designed to look like sea-blue wood.

An “Under the Sea” scene decorates the curtain separating the bedroom from the vanity and bathroom.

Behind the curtain is the vanity, and behind another door is the bathroom.

The iron, ironing board, suitcase rack, safe, and extra items are all in the open closet space next to the vanity.

There’s a new soap dish and tissue box, which match the new trash can and ice bucket.

The shower itself reveals the rest of Ariel’s cove.

The wall-mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is also new, and sealed for cleanliness.

  1. Are all the little mermaid rooms redone? I’m staying there next fall in one of those rooms, and I hope I get a nice new one if all aren’t redone

  2. Are the beds queens now? That was a deal breaker for us. We enjoyed it but wouldn’t stay again unless the beds were made queens.

  3. I loved that the host payed attention to fetails, spoke his mind and hammered the change of the themed bed sheets for the plain white ones. I, for one, hate the shampoo, soap and conditioner wall fixture. The little H2O Plus bottles were much better and more higienic. Especially during a pandemic.

  4. Looks great! We stayed here last year, the extra space under the bed is a huge plus, as is the move to queen beds. With a crib, stroller and the four of us, it was a bit crampy. Will come back soon, sans crib, and hopefully sans stroller by then 😀
