REVIEW: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe at Magic Kingdom Has A Giant Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich for Christmas

Hey, Sonny? Dr. Hank Pym called. He wants his sandwich back. There’s a new special holiday offering at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, and you’ll be surprised to hear that it has a lot of similarities with a particular sandwich here on planet Earth.

Cosmic Ray’s is one of our favorite spots to mobile order a soda and sit in some air conditioning while taking in Sonny Eclipse’s space crooning, but now, they’ve got a surprise special offering for the holidays, named the “Spice up Your Holiday” chicken sandwich.

The “Spice up Your Holiday” is made up of a spicy slab of fried chicken, topped with sriracha aioli and pickle slaw, and sandwiched between a Santa Mickey brioche bun.

We’re not sure what we were expecting with this sandwich, but we sure didn’t expect this monster. It reminded us of the chicken sandwich that was previewed for the upcoming (now delayed) Pym Test Kitchen at the Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure, just because of how tiny the bun looked compared to the massive piece of fried chicken.

The “Not So Little Chicken Sandwich”, coming to Pym Test Kitchen at the Avengers Campus.

Identical. Anyway, back to our review:

As with any Cosmic Ray’s sandwich, there’s not much to say. If you told me this was a Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich, I’d believe you.

Needless to say, the sandwich is giant, and it’s got a good level of spice throughout.

The crisp slaw gives it a fresh twist, but be warned that it took about 20 bites before we got to the bun.

For $11.99, this is a fun, festive, and definitely sizeable meal at the Magic Kingdom—and one of the few savory holiday exclusives. Make sure to mobile order it next time you’re at the Magic Kingdom, before it glows away after the end of the season.

We got this today. It was tiny. Not even close to the same size chicken. Still good but not huge as pictured.
