We bring you a lot of stories every single day. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up. So in case you missed anything from our feed, we have rounded up all our stories in one place to get the news at a glance. Here is your Daily Recap for Saturday, December 5, 2020.
Walt Disney World
EPCOT

- EPCOT’s historic transformation will bring an all-new statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney, with the creation of “Dreamer’s Point,” a statue that will be located in World Celebration near the exit of Spaceship Earth
- Since we last checked in on the construction of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, some changes have been made on the roof with the installation of wood paneling that has appeared on top of some of the corrugated metal panels
- Disney Legend and Walt Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter is back at it, reiterating his support for a long-overdue re-do of the Journey into Imagination with Figment attraction at EPCOT—and not only that, his idea bag is full… with the possibility of a full-length animated film featuring Figment
- Guests dining at Chefs de France in the France Pavilion at EPCOT may be in for a unique experience as Chefs de France has expanded its seating capacity by using Monsieur Paul’s dining room
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- You could say that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance certainly rose… and resisted boarding today, the day of its one-year anniversary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as the ambitious attraction once again failed to open with the rest of the park and didn’t start boarding until 4:19 PM
Disney Springs
- According to Amanda McKenzie of FOX 35 Orlando, Disney Springs reached capacity shortly after 6:00 PM this evening
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

- It seems the Keister Coaster’s clown has seen its last sliders at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn as Disney has officially confirmed that the slide at the Luna Park Pool will have a completely refreshed appearance when it reopens, according to writer Brooke Geiger McDonald
Other Walt Disney World News
- In a rare sight, no Park Pass reservations were available for any ticket types today, including Disney Resort Guests, Annual Passholders, and guests with theme park tickets, according to Walt Disney World’s Park Pass calendar, as they had all been booked
- While guests at Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort won’t be able to enjoy the majesty of the Candlelight Processional this year, Disney is trying to keep the holiday magic going as they’ve released a video of a performance from last year’s EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, led by celebrity narrator Neil Patrick Harris, for guests to enjoy at home
Disneyland Resort

- The latest regional stay-at-home order in California will likely begin taking effect in Orange County this weekend, as ICU availability across Southern California dips below the 15% threshold
- With this new order, all dining must revert back to take-out and delivery, and at Disneyland Resort, they’re taking the order very seriously, closing all restaurants at both Downtown Disney District and its recently-opened Buena Vista Street expansion
Disneyland Paris
- Pianist Gijs Van Winkelhof is the resident pianist at the Disneyland Hotel in Disneyland Paris, and also a fan of Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage at Tokyo DisneySea, so to that end, he has created a spectacular piano cover of the ride’s signature theme song “Compass of Your Heart”
New Merchandise
- The holidays are in full swing at the Disneyland Resort, and with that comes new goodies and collectables that make our nice list, like this new light-up Mickey & Minnie Christmas Tree popcorn bucket
- There’s always room for another happy haunt, MagicBand, or Minnie Headband in your collection, so why not add these new Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction “The Haunted Mansion” items now available on shopDisney
- With the year we’ve all had, it’s a safe bet that most of us are looking forward to 2021 and if you’re at Walt Disney World, you can get a head start on the coming year with a new Limited Release MagicBand
- We’ve got good news for Duffy & Friends fans at Walt Disney World, as a long-awaited merchandise item from Aulani has finally arrived at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — the Duffy & Friends plush headband and tote bag
- Guests may not currently be able to enjoy drinks at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, but they can certainly dress the part with these two new T-shirts available for Trader Sam’s fans at BouTiki inside Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Entertainment and Media
Disney+

- As part of The Walt Disney Company’s ongoing restructuring to emphasize direct-to-consumer entertainment and Disney+, the vice president of the streaming service’s Nonfiction Originals division has left the company for Netflix
- December 5th is a very special day for Disney fans, as it marks Walt Disney’s 119th birthday, and while you may not be at the parks or in a movie theater to celebrate, you can still find plenty of Walt’s magic on Disney+ with our specially curated playlist
