PHOTOS: Construction Continues on New Monorail Station at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Earlier this week, construction began on the new Monorail station at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We catalogued the dismantling of the old Monorail station and are now watching the new one take shape.

There are still only eight pillar structures on the front side of the Monorail station.

The base of the platform beneath the Monorail track remains, and these rebar structures stretch past that.

From closer, we could see that the pillars on the other side of the track are already being surrounded with metal paneling.

The base of a few more pillar structures have been installed in the ground.

Dirt has yet to be filled in around all of the bases.

There has been a lot of activity at the construction site while the new station is erected.

A few pillars awaiting installation are visible on the ground.

From beneath the Monorail track, we can see the pillars on both sides.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is set to reopen this summer. These pillars will be the taller brown ones behind the porte-cochère in the concept art below.

There’s still a lot of construction to go before the new station and Great Ceremonial House entrance are complete. Are you excited to see the final product?
