We reported that the painting of the World Drive entranceway to the Walt Disney World Resort had officially moved on to the next stage. The entrances to Walt Disney World are currently undergoing a transformation just in time for the resort’s 50th Anniversary this fall.

The Mickey Mouse marquee finished up just days ago, and work quickly moved on to the archway.

The muted yellow behind the left side of the archway was the previous color and the bright blue on the right-hand side is the new paint. In the photo above, you can see the stark contrast between the two.

The new color scheme can be seen on the Mickey Mouse marquee and the adjacent column with grey and bright gold accents.

The archway is now mostly painted blue and we expect the sign to be completely transformed in the coming days as painting is quickly progressing to the left.

Once the painting is complete, the Walt Disney World lettering will be painted white and work will move on to finish the final columns and the Minnie Mouse marquee as well, matching her to the new color scheme of Mickey’s marquee.

A small sign that says “The Most Magical Place on Earth” will eventually hang from the gold hanging supports above and gold flags will be added to the top of the archway. You can see what the finished entrance sign will look like here.
