Greetings from EPCOT! We’re back to see what’s new at the site of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind as work on the future attraction’s façade continues to move forward.

Since our last visit, we now have a clearer look at the ceiling of the right side of the façade, which has been entirely covered in blue synthetic sheeting.

The walls and doorway have already been wrapped in the same material to protect from rain and other weather, ensuring the structure survives the Florida elements.

As we reported, the ceiling on the left side has had wood paneling installed with square cutouts to accommodate light fixtures.

Wires currently dangle from the holes, though it’s unknown when the fixtures will be installed.

It’s very likely that once the process is complete, this area, too, will receive the same sheeting as the rest of the façade.

The same holes appear in the sheeting on the right, suggesting that the covering will be added before lighting is installed.

As the concept art below suggests, there’s still a lot of work to do before the building looks like an intergalactic pavilion with two entrances instead of the planned three, but at least from the exterior, it looks like progress is moving steadily. Less is known about the interior, though we did get a look at the Galaxarium back in December.

Artist concept rendering: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be the first “other-world” showcase pavilion at EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The adventure starts in the Galaxarium, a planetarium-like exhibition that explores the similarities and mysteries of the formation of Earth’s galaxy and Xandar. Guests will be invited to learn more about the treasures Xandar has to share – until the moment when the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive, and adventures across the cosmos ensue. The attraction will feature a new innovation from Walt Disney Imagineering – a storytelling coaster that rotates 360 degrees to focus guests on the action, including the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster. While previously scheduled to open this year, the ride is very likely delayed due to reprioritizing projects across Walt Disney World in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
