Orange County, Florida Mayor Jerry Demings stated in a press conference on Monday that he expects to relax the county’s mask mandate this summer.
Demings earlier stated that the mask mandate could be lifted by June, but is now targeting late summer after a rise in COVID-19 cases and the removal of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from the market. Physical distancing guidelines and temperature checks could be lifted earlier than the mask mandate.
Private business, including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, do make their own rules regarding masks, distancing, and temperature checks. Though Orange County as a whole might lift the mask mandate, theme parks may keep their own in place for a longer period of time.
Walt Disney World has begun relaxing some of their rules. Most notably, guests may now remove face masks to take outdoor photos.

Smoke in mirrors. Nothing will be lifted anytime soon. There will always be a “reason” to keep masks, SD, etc. The goalposts are constantly being moved – we’ve seen this from the very beginning of the pandemic.

Most likely Disney will follow the CDC guidelines for these issues. I wouldn’t make any bets on big changes until the CDC announces new guidelines.

It’s all theater at this point anyway! Their own Water parks are wide open with people not wearing masks because they’re not allowed there! If they were so dam worried about this virus then why open the water park? If masks are not needed at one park, the why the other? That’s one smart virus! Cancelled my 2weeks grand Floridian because of this pointless mask mandate! Even governor says joke! Will spend money elsewhere!
Covid is a very smart virus. It knows when you are eating vs. talking. It knows when you are protesting vs. gathering for non politically correct events. It’s truly humiliating how gullible and easily led the majority of this country truly is. Whatever. The masks are never going away. Well except at my nieces school. No more virtual learning offered and masks are no longer required. They want to stop perpetuating the hysteria. Glad some schools are putting their foot down. Wish the rest of the world would wake up.
