BREAKING: Restaurant Marrakesh Sign Removed From EPCOT

Over five years after the restaurant closed, Disney has removed the Restaurant Marrakesh lettering from its entrance sign.

The golden base of the sign remains hanging in the entryway at the back of the Morocco pavilion, but the name Restaurant Marrakesh and red symbol have been removed. Rivets and faded silhouettes of the letters are still visible.

Restaurant Marrakesh never reopened after Walt Disney World shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. In June 2020, Restaurant Marrakesh filed for a PPP loan. Much of the pavilion was operated by Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant, LLC, and Disney later filed a UCC Financing Statement against them. Disney took over operations in October 2020.

Though the rest of the pavilion has continued to operate and Disney renovated Spice Road Table, they have never made any official announcement regarding the status of Restaurant Marrakesh and the Restaurant Marrakesh webpage remains live. Menus were removed from outside the restaurant in 2021.

The space has been used for limited-time offerings like a seating area, the Florida Blue lounge, and the Annual Passholder lounge.
